Paignton
One of the jewels in the English Riviera’s crown, Paignton welcomes everyone, from seaside family holiday makers to those looking for romantic escapes or energetic activity breaks.
With all the ingredients for a great holiday, Paignton is not only a family-friendly destination, but thanks to its award-winning accommodation and world class attractions, it’s a hot spot for couples and outdoors enthusiasts too.
Something for everyone
For a family day out, why not head for one of the many Paignton attractions, like Paignton Zoo? Kids and adults alike will have a great time exploring the Savannah or the Wetland, and the zoo is also home to some of the rarest species on the planet. Fancy something a bit more active? No problem - Paignton is home to some fantastic beaches where you can water ski, paddleboard and even go skim boarding. Alternatively, why not hire a boat and simply mess about on the water?
If you haven’t quite got your sea legs and just fancy a paddle, Paignton’s gorgeous sandy beaches are family-friendly, safe and clean, with many of them holding the coveted Blue Flag award for cleanliness. You may have to dust the sand out of your sandwiches, but it’s perfect for building sandcastles with the little ones!
After a day at sea, head for Paignton Pier where you’ll find plenty of fun activities for everyone, from the amusement arcade to the crazy golf that’s guaranteed to bring out your competitive side.
Stunning after dark
When the sun goes down, Paignton bursts into life. You can choose from award-winning restaurants, bars and cafés with stunning sea views or take in a live show. No matter what your preference you’ll find plenty of things to do in Paignton at night. There are always lots of events in Paignton to keep everyone entertained, with a year round calendar of great festivals including the vibrant Torbay Carnival, BMAD and Children’s Week.
Add a touch of romance
There are plenty of things to do around Paignton too, and for a romantic day out for two you can’t go wrong with a trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. Setting off from Paignton along one of the most idyllic stretches of coastline in the country, you’ll head for the pretty village of Kingswear where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy an alfresco lunch.
