Berdica Finca
A real change of scene.
Escape Moraira’s built-up, urbanisation areas (where it’s increasingly hard to escape other holidaymakers) and instead, enjoy the BIG open views and the extraordinarily beautiful Benissa countryside. Dramatic mountain vistas, vineyards, olive and almond groves form the exceptionally picturesque backdrop to this tranquil, spacious and comfortable country house within easy reach of Moraira, the sea (13 minutes), shops (4 minutes) and restaurants (4 minutes).
This is a superb opportunity to experience something of the ‘real Spain’. Yes, ‘real Spain’ is a clichéd phrase however in this case we believe it’s justified. You will appreciate this exceptionally beautiful and picturesque location which, unlike most countryside properties, is not isolated nor is it cut off from all the nearby places of interest. It’s only a short, easy drive to beaches, shops, cafes and restaurants. And within easy walking distance of tennis courts (ten minutes) and the charming (and tiny) rural train station for the equally tiny, two carriage train linking Denia and Calpe
Note: If horse riding or tennis are of interest to you, please check with us, before booking your holiday, regarding current situation / prices of visitor membership for these facilities.
Built around one hundred years ago, the house is located within the spectacular triangle of ‘orchard countryside’ between Moraira, Teulada and Benissa. This beautiful and very tranquil area is known for the cultivation of oranges, lemons, almonds, olives and moscatel grapes. The house sits on a gently elevated plot with an area of just over 6000m2 (lots of space) and looks over the tiny hamlet of Berdica (ber-dee-ka). The local voices here will be Spanish –families who have lived here for generations.
This property and its semi-detached neighbour are arranged so that each house faces away from the other. Your property looks South West while the neighbouring house looks east. The neighbouring property belongs to a quiet, extremely helpful local Spanish family who truly understand the meaning of ‘privacy’.
Few holiday visitors have the opportunity to experience first-hand, the quieter, more picturesque countryside locations of this area. Being away from it all. From this house, the views are of fields, vineyards and olive groves, all with the dramatic backdrop of the Sierra Bernia mountains. And despite the picturesque, peaceful location, it’s less than five minutes to the nearest shops / cafés / restaurants and 13 minutes to the nearest beach.
Unlike most finca-style properties, this house is blessed with (lots of) space and generously proportioned rooms. No tiny bedrooms. The internal layout comprises spacious kitchen, lounge with TV and WIFI, three large bedrooms (one with ensuite shower and toilet) and an extremely spacious, shaded ‘naya’ terrace which includes a superb summer kitchen. The large shaded terrace is ideal for comfortable, al-fresco dining. On the ground floor there is a large ensuite bedroom with shower and toilet while upstairs, there are a further two bedrooms and family bathroom with shower cubicle.
The distinct feeling of ‘space’ in this property extends beyond the house itself. The house sits in a large plot of just over 6000m2 which is split into three separate areas: (1) the ‘near garden and terrace’ area immediately adjacent to the covered dining terrace (2) the pool / pool terrace and (3) an extensive area of currently uncultivated land which (one day!) will feature a large fruit and veg garden. In the meantime, this field is a great place in which to stroll, taking in the superb nearby views.
Small print…
We couldn’t find a more elegant to say this..
The peaceful nature of this area is something which is valued by guests looking for a more tranquil location. With this in mind, we ask guests to also play their part in maintaining that peaceful environment. Don’t worry, BBQ’s, holiday drinks and terrace chat are all absolutely fine, it’s the 4am party music and ultra loud conversation which if avoided wiil be most appreciated
