Agios Nikitas beach. One of the famous white, west coast beaches accessible by car from villa & Tsoukalades |
The village of Tsoukalades, near to the villa, is on the north west coast of Lefkada Island (also known as Lefkas). Tsoukalades village is a hotspot for fantastic views over the Ionian Sea and across to mainland Greece. The peaceful village is home to narrow streets, each lined with a collection of traditional houses and the odd taverna with excellent local food and wine. Tsoukalades beach is peaceful and quiet, making this an ideal choice for those seeking a relaxing break, while other superb, white sandy beaches (photos further below) are within easy reach including Pefkoulia beach, Agios Nikitas beach, Milos beach and Kathisma beach. All are easily accessible by car via the very scenic coastal road which passes through the Tsoukalades.

Lefkada Island
Lefkada (or Lefkas) is the undiscovered ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Ionian islands. Mountainous and remote in the centre yet fringed on both sides of the island by some of THE most exceptional beaches in Greece. A photographer's dream. The west coast scenery is breathtaking with long, white sandy beaches and dramatic cliff formations. These west coast beaches include Pefkoulia, Milos, Agios Nikitas, Kathisma, Kalamitsi, Egremni and Porto Katsiki. On the east side of the island, ten smaller satellite islets dot the sea and the coastline is punctuated with numerous beautiful sheltered bays and scenic wooded backdrops E.G. Vlicho, Mikros Gialos, Sivota and Vassiliki. Although connected to the mainland by a long causeway and floating bridge, Lefkada remains steadfastly island like in the very best of ways. In remote villages older women sport traditional dress and the main town of Lefkas has a charmingly sedate mid-20th-century appeal. The island provides remarkable scenery (coastal and mountain), waterfalls, churches, monasteries, picturesque village, green surroundings and wonderful beaches. From Lefkada you can visit the famous Onassis family island of Scorpios or Meganissi, Ithaca and Kefalonia. Daily cruises depart from Nidri or Vassiliki. Alternatively, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the neighbouring islands from the hills of Lefkada.
Lefkada measures 35 kilometres (22 miles) from north to south, and 15 kilometres (9 miles) from east to west. Its area is 336 square kilometres (130 sq mi). Its highest point is the mountain of Stavrota, 1,158 metres (3,799 feet) above sea level, situated in the middle of the island.
