Overview

On arrival, most guests are genuinely stunned by the setting and views. From the house, there is just nothing to interrupt the phenomenal views. On an island as spectacular as Lefkada, it’s not uncommon to find quality villas with impressive views however we believe that Panorama really does have one of the most (if not the most) stunning locations imaginable. The word “Stunning” is frequently overused but it’s justified with this property.

When the villa was built in 2005, the aim was to construct a spacious property with numerous terrace areas and to maximise the natural advantages of location and light. This certainly has been achieved. The combination of privacy, comfort and views ensure that this an extremely popular villa. There’s something really quite special about lying in bed watching the sunrise over the mountains of mainland Greece.

Many guests struggle to venture far from the villa during their stay. It’s a property for those who truly appreciate the meaning of ‘location’. Here, you really can ‘get away from it’ yet without being in a remote or impractical location. An ideal setting.

The lounge / dining area shares the same wonderful views. A leisurely breakfast on the covered balcony accessed directly from the large kitchen is an ideal time to appreciate this magical location.

The villa has a cool blue theme throughout with soft lighting and comfortable furniture. Outside, comfortable patio furniture has been provided so that after a dip in the infinity pool, you can just lie back and luxuriate in the tranquillity.

Location

Above Poros village. Lefkada (Lefkas) Island.

The villa sits above the sleepy, picture postcard village of Poros and within easy reach of Mikros Gialos bay. Poros is approximately four minutes drive down the access road from villa. Poros is a quintessentially, picture postcard, country village with a church on the hillside and numerous exceptionally quaint rural house houses (many keep bees in their garden for producing the local honey). There is also a useful bakery, taverna and mini market in Poros.

The nearest beach is Mikros Gialos, which lies below Poros and is a further five minute drive approximately. Here, there are several (very) good tavernas. Within a twenty minute drive of The Sunrise House are numerous beautiful and completely unspoilt villages and harbours such as Syvota Bay, Vassiliki Bay, and Vlycho as well as Nidri town. Nidri (approx fifteen minutes) is a particularly useful town with numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, post office, car hire and ferries leaving for Meganissi island. There are also several boat hire centres, sailing schools and water sports centres here. Hire a boat and motor across to Meganissi or one of the tiny islands nearby.

Layout

Upper (main floor):

Main entrance door leads to spacious lounge with comfortable sofas, open fireplace and separate dining area.  From the lounge, one set of patio doors lead to balcony / veranda with comfortable patio furniture and dramatic views. Another set of patio doors leads from the lounge via three steps up to the pool terrace and large, 12 metre infinity pool. The pool terrace has plenty of room for sunbeds and table/s chairs.

The very spacious kitchen (with full cooking facilities, dishwasher and American fridge/ freezer with ice maker) is positioned for equally easy access to dining area, balcony or lounge. For easy access outside there are sliding patio doors from the kitchen to the adjoining veranda.

Hallway from lounge leads to large, light, dual aspect double bedroom with superb views and patio doors leading onto a veranda. Adjacent to this bedroom is a large bathroom with bath/shower.

Lower floor:

From hallway, an internal staircase leads down to two, twin bedrooms; both with an en-suite comprising shower, sink and toilet. Sliding patio doors from those bedrooms provide direct access onto an extensive stone terrace with the most spectacular views.

Outside:

Private parking area. Natural stone walls, patios and terraces and shrub beds surround the area. 12 metre infinity swimming pool.  Pool terrace with sunbeds and patio furniture. A flight of steps lead down from pool terrace to large, stone patio and original terrace with B.B.Q. All paths, patios and pool are lit at night. Panoramic sea and mountain views.

Panorama is one of only three villas on this hill and in common with most of the more prestigious villas on the Island (those providing a sense of ‘escape’ and built in dramatic locations) the villa is approached via an unmade, although perfectly drive-able access road leading up the hill from Poros village to the driveway of the villa. From the access road there are dramatic views to the valley below and inland mountains beyond.

There is a photo on the Main Photos page which shows two telecoms masts on the next ridge along from the villa (Panorama Villa is almost in the centre of the photo). As can be seen in the photo, the masts are way over to the right of Panorama and don’t intrude on the superb views.

Car

Like most properties on Lefkada, a car is required.

Although a 'normal' car can be used on the access road if driven carefully and at low speed (although not sports coupes with lowered suspension and or body trim) we'd recommend, for all round comfort, practicality and the ability to easily explore other parts of the island, a vehicle such as a Suzuki Vitara (4WD), Mitsubishi Pajero (4WD), Diahatsu Terios, 4 door Suzuki Jimny or, one the newer breed of (often just two wheel drive but) "higher clearance", "cross over" vehicles such as the Nissan Qashqai or other SUV.

Vehicles of this type are good for the access road from village to villa as well as exploring some of the island's least visited and most beautiful spots. We can provide details of local suppliers. If there are more than four in your group you may need a second car..
